On September 14, 2006 at Cat Lai Port (CLP), Saigon Newport Company hosted a ceremony for the obtained throughput of one million TEUs throughout the port for the first 9 months of 2006 and launched the new scheme of Terminal 1. Attending the meeting were relevant departments and offices and more than 20 major shipping lines operating in HCM City. This year, CLP rejoices to see the handling of the one millionth TEU three months earlier than in 2005, which accounts for an essential grow of 37,49% over the same period of 2005. As it is estimated, the annual throughput of 2006 is bound to reach 1.4M TEUs. This special event had marked an outstanding development of SNP in attracting more shipping lines by high quality services.
In order to boost productivity and enhance service quality, SNP had also, on this occasion, organized the ribbon cutting ceremony for the launch of Terminal 1 of berths B01 & B02. This new scheme of terminal management will directly control the whole operational procedures and get hold of equipment and facilities from berth to CY. Subsequent to the ceremony, a meeting among terminal members had been held to address major concerns for fulfilling all goals proposed by SNP board of directors. After the settlement of Terminal 1, SNP longs for the launch of 02 more terminals at CLP namely “Terminal 1” and “Terminal 2” towards the end of this year
