On 10 January 2011, the ceremony of awarding Investment Certificate and the Decision No. 139/QD-BQL-KCN-HCM-QLMT approving the assessment report for environment impacts of Tan Cang – Hiep Phuoc Terminal Project of Saigon Newport Corporation at Hiep Phuoc area, Nha Be District was held at Ho Chi Minh City Export Processing and Industrial Zones Authority (Hepza). At the ceremony, Mr. Vu Van Hoa, Manager of Hepza, granted the said Certificate and Decision to Mr. Tran Khanh Hoang, Vice General Director of Saigon Newport.
Tan Cang – Hiep Phuoc Terminal has a total area of 19,14ha and is located at the confluence of Soai Rap River and Dong Dien River. Total berth length in Soai Rap River is 420m to simultaneously enable the accommodation of two vessels of over 30,000 DWT; at the other side in Dong Dien River is a barge quay, 350m in length. Tan Cang – Hiep Phuoc Terminal aims at becoming a port hub to connect Southern HCMC, the Mekong Delta, Cat Lai terminal, and Cai Mep Terminal as well as a major terminal for bulk cargo, especially iron and domestic containerized commodities.
